NYC Congestion Pricing:

  • The scheme is based on the Socialist EU!
  • Motorists heading into Lower and Midtown Manhattan are now forced to shell out a first-in-the-nation $9 congestion toll.
  • “My constituents who still have no real public transit connection to Manhattan are looking forward to treating the posh, transit-rich, gentrified, brownstone Brooklyn as their new park-and-ride,” quipped NYC Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli (R-Staten Island).
    • The FDNY will be forced to use firetrucks and other heavy vehicles to move firefighters around the city because smoke eaters will no longer want to drive their personal cars...
    • The Queensborough Bridge is no longer a free ride into Manhattan
    • Manhattan residents who live in Manhattan south of 60th Street can't escape paying the new congestion toll -- even if they don't drive.
    • Companies making deliveries or providing services in the central business district south of 60th Street are sending out notices that they will add the cost of the fee as a surcharge in their bills to customers.
    • Hochul — who recently approved a controversial law that will force oil, natural-gas and coal companies to pony up $75 billion for carbon emissions allegedly contributing to global warming — has taken at least 30 flights aboard private jets since 2021, state Board of Elections records show.
    • The MTA held a cheery celebration to unveil a new “Congestion Relief Zone” sign in Manhattan, just hours before drivers will feel the pain as the controversial toll goes into effect in the Big Apple. Drivers are once again bailing out the MTA!
      • The $415,000 tab was picked up by her campaign committee, records show.

  • Joe Biden is blocking oil drilling across 625 million acres of U.S. waters.  Americans for Prosperity (AFP), the nation’s largest grassroots organization, is calling him out.
  • AFP Energy Policy Fellow Faith Burns:

    • “Thanks to Bidenomics, Americans have paid more to live their everyday lives for nearly four years and voters rejected more of the same in November. This expensive parting shot to cement his legacy will only serve to continue their financial pain, especially at the gas pump.
    • Joe Biden’s doubling down on bad policy will have major impacts on American energy production and the availability of affordable, reliable energy for American families. Biden is putting American energy off-limits, permanently imposing his anti-energy, high price agenda that was roundly rejected in November.”

    • Hochul signs NY law that will charge $75B to oil, gas and coal companies for climate change — but critics say customers will pick up tab! (NY Post 12/26/24)

Segment Topic:

  • A Post-'Defund the Police' World Made New Orleans a Soft Target!
  • While law enforcement looks for possible connections to international groups, there is a domestic factor closer to home that may also be a contributing factor: the post-George Floyd, "Defund the Police" movement which has stripped cities of much-needed on-duty police officers.
  • More than four years after the "defund the police" movement took hold, New Orleans has been suffering from a police shortage crisis.
  • In 2023, the New Orleans police force was operatingjust above 50% capacity — at just 900 officers on a force that once had 1,600 officers.
  • In fact, the city of New Orleans became so concerned about the shortage of police officers that in the last two years it has recruited civilians to serve as officers to respond to things such as non-injury car accidents.
    • Funded by the French Quarter Economic Development District, the Supplemental Police Patrol Program (“SPPP”) proactively patrols the French Quarter streets to help the New Orleans Police Department deter crime. It uses a mobile application that allows businesses, residents, visitors, and employees to easily report crimes in progress. The SPPP patrols 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The initiative has been credited by the N.O.P.D. as having a positive impact on violent crime, including the removal of guns, drugs, and criminals from the French Quarter.
      • Policing watchdogs are raising caution flags, however. Previous actions by state troopers in the French Quarter, working alongside New Orleans officers who operate under different rules set by a federal consent decree, sparked allegations of excessive force and racial profiling, lawsuits and concerns over transparency. (French Quarter Management District)
    • Jeff Landry announces he wants permanent state trooper presence in New Orleans in January 2024!
      • Troop (NOLA) returns to the French Quarter in February 2024!
    • Did the Republicans learn anything from the Mike Johnson debacle?
      • Did those who refused to vote for him lose the support of President Trump?
    • How much damage has Kathy Hochul done to the future of the Democratic machine in New York with this Congestion Pricing scheme?
      • Are Republicans poised to take back control of Albany and NYC?

Panelist:

Republican Strategist, Jennifer Kelly: Author of the forthcoming book, "The Real War on Men: Author of the book: The Real War on Women: Host of the nationally-syndicated radio-show, ''All-American Radio and currently has not paid the $9 congestion pricing toll in NYC!
